More than just poses
Many people associate yoga primarily with āsanas – the physical poses. While these are a key component, yoga encompasses much more. It's also about prāṇāyāma, fostering a mindful relationship with our breath through practice and joining the breath with mindful movement and meditation.

Unlocking your well-being
Yoga āsanas help us focus on the body, becoming aware of how it feels and becoming more responsive to its needs. As we practise, we focus on our breath, marrying movement and breath to bring us fully into the present moment. Breathing might be automatic, but most of us aren't doing it right! Watch an infant breathe and you can see them breathing into their belly. Most adults breathe only into the top part of their lungs. Poor breathing is believed to be an underlying factor in many chronic illnesses. Learning to regulate our breath with breathwork exercises can bring both physical and mental gains. Prāṇāyāma - our breath is our life force, our vital energy and working with our breath supports both our physical and emotional wellbeing.

Meditation for everyone
Many people instantly say, 'I can't meditate, my mind is too busy.' Everyone feels the same way! Meditation is a practice. You might sit for five minutes and your mind will want to keep jumping about, but come back to the breath and, in time, the mind quiets and calms. Each class we dedicate time to these key aspects of yoga whilst also incorporating yoga philosophy, offering a unique and enriching experience for all.
